Dear friends, family and colleagues. I am taking part in my 2nd Fireflies West ride along the coast of California to raise money for City of Hope, a phenomenal research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life threatening diseases.
My goal is to cycle the 550 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles over the course of 6 days, alongside 49 other dedicated riders. To give you some background, The Fireflies are an incredible group of cyclists who have raised millions of dollars for charity since their inaugural ride in 2001. My brother Ed rides with the Fireflies too, he has completed the west ride and is about to ride the his 2nd east coast. Over the years, we have lost several people close to us to cancer, so if there's a way to prevent losing more, then I want to be part of it.
For the past few months I've been training for this endeavor. It's a big commitment to have undertaken but I know it will be incredibly rewarding. Notwithstanding the challenges I face on the road, I also need to raise $4,000 individually to help the Fireflies break through this year's $500,000 goal. And just in case you haven't guessed, this is where you come in.
Please, please give what you can. Everything helps - it really does. You can donate anonymously if you prefer, or you can write a message and leave your name so I know to thank you.
A big thank you for reading and hopefully acting on. I hope I can make you proud and complete this deeply inspiring challenge.
