A little over a year ago I started riding a bike to get some exercise without blowing out my knee. A few months after that, I started riding with an amazing group of people that had more of a mission than just being healthy - raising money to help cure cancer.
The Fireflies mission completely inspired me - so much so that I decided to join a 600+ mile ride I had no business being on. During that ride, it became quickly obvious I'd bitten off more than I could chew - but seeing my fellow flies continue, despite their own challenges gave me the strength to finish something that I wasn't sure I could.
Since then I've ridden enough to feel I am a "cyclist" but I don't feel any more confident in my ability to finish the ride. (Now I actually know what I'm in for.) But again, the group and the cause will surely carry me through year two of the West Coast tour.
I am humbled and privileged to receive your support. It's a great cause, which makes it very easy to ask for.
