I just registered for the 20th annual Hike4Hope in support of City of Hope’s global fight to find cures for women’s cancers.
While I am definitely not a hiker, this event on December 2nd seems too compelling to pass up, especially with your help. I will be “hiking” two miles along a riverbed in Palm Springs and thinking of the women in my life who have battled cancer. Foremost, I want to thank and honor my friend Tookie Marcellin who overcame cancer with the help of City of Hope. She is honoring, and therefore so am I, her daughter Amber Marcellin Genato who is currently in the process of overcoming cancer. In addition I will be thinking of Leslie Bolt Dennis who is cancer-free, as is Tookie, thanks to City of Hope.
I must also honor dear friends who lost their lives to various forms of cancer and who took a bit of my soul with them when they passed: Joann Mucci Townsend, Claire Morton Moody, Sylvia Brown and Julie Allen. City of Hope combines science with caring to make scientific strides every day. With more time and research, hopefully lives such as theirs will be saved as City of Hope is leading the fight against cancers unique to women.
I’ve never participated in an event to raise funds before but if you could donate $5 for each mile I “hike,” your $10 donation would be so appreciated. Of course additional sums would surely be welcomed. Just click the big "Donate To Me" button or, if you prefer, you may send me a check made out to City of Hope, Hike4Hope. Either way, your donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you so much for your support, Linda
