As you know or may not know, my father Mannie Fineman dedicated most of his adult life to the City of Hope. In keeping with his passion for this great organization, I am on the San Diego Women's Council of the City of Hope to raise awareness and give back so that others can have a fighting chance.
I'm participating in Yoga for Hope because I want to bring awareness to the healing benefits of Yoga for patients battling life threatening illnesses. At City of Hope, patients are offered gentle restorative Yoga classes as a complementary therapy to traditional treatments. This program has had a profound impact on quality of life for many patients.
In addition to researching complementary and alternative therapies, City of Hope conducts innovative, results oriented, patient focused research that examines the entire course of cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS — from diagnosis and treatment, from remission and relapse to survivorship. And their global collaborations allow them to partner on research and share their findings with other treatment centers. As a result, City of Hope can develop more powerful treatments that benefit patients around the world.
