Yoga for Hope is an event for yoga beginners and experts alike and was born out of City of Hope's efforts to expand awareness of the importance of the mind-body-spirit connection and the hospital's unique approach to utilizing complimentary and integrative therapies such as yoga and meditation in the patient treatment programs. Participants are treated to a morning of health and wellness with the true gift being a master yoga class taught by San Francisco's premier yoga instructors.
Last year's event exceeded every expectation, consisting of 300 yoga participants and raising almost $30,000!
City of Hope patients benefit from yoga
At City of Hope, patients are offered gentle, restorative yoga classes for relaxation and well-being, in addition to traditional treatments. This program has had a profound impact on symptom management and quality of life for many City of Hope patients. As quoted by one City of Hope patient, "After chemotherapy, I had a lot of stiffness. Doing this yoga class has given me more mobility. I feel more relaxed and better able to handle stress."
