We're looking forward to seeing you at Hope Sweat & Cures - Trick or Tri!
Location: Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area (Map Link)
Date: October 28, 2017
TRIck or Tri Presented By Performance Bike is a triathlon and running event on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the 836-acre Santa Fe Recreational Area in Irwindale, which boasts a serene 70-acre lake and is considered one of the best hidden jewels in Southern California at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Race options include HALF, Olympic, Olympic Relay and Olympic Aquabike, as well as a 10K and 5K run/walk costume contest. Everyone gets to race!
The 70-acre lake is spring fed and chlorinated for optimal swim conditions. The race will almost certainly be wetsuit legal with race day temperatures typically 65 to 70 degrees. The HALF distance [1.2 miles] and Olympic distance [0.93 miles] competitors will circumnavigate Boney Island counterclockwise. The Sprint distance [250 meters] competitors will swim a U-shaped route. Buoys are always on the swimmer's left shoulder.
Safety is our No. 1 concern so the bike course is completely closed to vehicles. Police, traffic control officers and experienced, well-trained volunteers will insure your safety along the entire course. This is a PR course which is almost completely flat with 80 percent on pristine asphalt.
Sprint - 1 lap
Olympic - 3 laps
HALF - 7 laps + 1 "nub"
Timing mats will be placed on course to record split times and to insure that the proper distances were completed.
The run progresses clockwise around the Santa Fe Dam Lake with a paved trail that ridges the south side of the lake and a well-traversed trail on the north side of the lake.
The Sprint distance is a 3.1 miles [1 lap] and the Olympic is 6.2 miles [2 laps] around the Santa Fe Dam Lake.
